A Trip to Infinity - Science Documentary

'A Trip to Infinity' (2022) is a Science documentary that explores the concept of infinity from various perspectives including mathematics, physics and Philosophy. This film was produced by Curious channel that takes the audience through various cosmological theories and discoveries. 'A Trip to Infinity' explains profound phenomena such as the Big Bang, the expansion of the Universe, dark matter, dark energy and Black holes. Apart from these, it raises questions about the nature of the universe, the limits of human understanding and the implications of Infinity.

'A Trip to Infinity' begins with the explanation of the Big Bang that was coined by Fred Hoyle in 1949. The Big Bang is a  physical theory that describes how the universe expanded from an initial state of high density and temperature 13.79 Billion year ago. That is actually considered as the age of the universe. Then the elements like hydrogen and helium along with trace amounts of lithium and beryllium were formed. The Big Bang theory is considered as the most credible scientific explanation of how the universe was created.

The documentary 'A Trip to Infinity' talks about the Hubble Space telescope that has helped scientists study distant galaxies and stars and also to observe the universe's ongoing expansion, dark energy and black holes. The Dark matter is a mysterious and invisible substance that won't interact with light. It makes up about 27% of the universe. The Dark energy is a mysterious force that is causing the Universe to expand at an accelerating rate. It is estimated to make up about 68% of the universe's energy density. The Black hole is a region in space where gravity is so strong that nothing not even light can escape. Black holes are formed when big stars run out of fuel.

The film, ‘A Trip to Infinity' also talks about the possible collision between the Andromeda galaxy and the Milky way in the future. Apart from these, it talks about the Big Rip and the 'Big Crunch'. It is estimated that 7 billion years ago the Black matter and the Black energy were in balance. Due to the expansion, when the density went  down, the dark energy became the dominant property of Space. Thus there is a battle in between the two. If the dark matter wins, the ultimate fate of the universe will be the Big Crunch, where the whole universe will begin to contract and get compressed. If the dark energy wins, there will be the Big Rip, where the universe will keep expanding and eventually get ripped apart. But that will happen only after 50 billion years. Thus 'A Trip to Infinity' helps us to visualize the wonders, mysteries and the future of the Universe.
